LazyBudget ("App") is provided by Kenex LLC ("we," "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information in connection with the App.
When you sign in with Apple, we receive a user identifier (opaque ID from Apple) so we can recognize you on this device. We may also receive your name and email if Apple provides them (typically only on first authorization). You can choose to hide your email; Apple may provide a private relay address.
We store this information locally on your device (in the device's keychain) to keep you signed in. Your Apple identifier, name, and email are not sent to our servers.
We use Firebase Authentication to verify your identity. When you make API requests (such as connecting a bank or using the AI assistant), a Firebase user ID and short-lived authentication token are sent to our server. These are used solely to verify you are an authorized user and are not stored beyond the request.
Bills, income, transactions, budgets, and similar data you create or that the App derives (e.g., from bank connection or file import) are stored on your device. Your data may also sync between your Apple devices through your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. This sync is between your devices only — we do not have access to your iCloud data. We do not upload or back up this data to our own servers. If you set a display name, it is stored only on your device.
If you connect a bank account, Plaid (a third-party service) connects to your financial institution and retrieves transaction data. Plaid's privacy policy and terms apply to that process. We receive transaction data from Plaid to show in the App; that data is stored on your device. We do not use it for advertising or sell it to third parties.
Transaction data from imported files (e.g., OFX/QFX) is stored only on your device. We do not upload it to our servers.
Purchases are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment card details. We may receive entitlement information from Apple so we can unlock features in the App.
The App includes an AI assistant powered by Anthropic (Claude). It has two modes:
A device identifier and up to 10 recent conversation messages are included in each request for rate limiting and conversation continuity. Conversation history is kept locally (up to 40 messages) and is cleared when you sign out. No personally identifiable information (name, email, Apple ID) is included.
In both modes, data is used solely to generate a response to your question. It is not stored on our server and is not retained by Anthropic after the response is delivered. You can revoke Personal AI consent at any time from the assistant screen or Settings.
We use the information described above to:
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.
We do not share your budget or transaction data with advertisers or data brokers.
Data stays on your device until you sign out, delete the App, or clear data. Signing out removes local account data, bank tokens, and budget data from the device. We do not retain copies of your budget or transaction data after you sign out or delete the App.
We use standard technical measures (e.g., secure storage on device, HTTPS) to protect data. No system is completely secure; you are responsible for securing your device and Apple ID.
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because we store most data only on your device, you can delete it by signing out or deleting the App. For other requests, contact us at support@lazybudget.app.
We may update this Privacy Policy. The "Last updated" date will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy. We may notify you of material changes in the App.
